Bob Wallace: Philosophical Mysticism/The God Within Us

I’m going to post, here, some of my writings about the big topics mentioned at the left. If my ideas interest you, too, I’d enjoy hearing from you.

I’m a writer, speaker and teacher. I have academic training in philosophy, and my life experience has led me to what I call “philosophical mysticism.” Some of my heroes are Plato, Jelaluddin Rumi, G.W.F. Hegel, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Virginia Woolf. These are people who had an inner life that they took pains to share with the world. In fact, they help us to see that our innermost world is inherently shared, so that we’re connected with each other in a profound way that we’re often not aware of. This discovery is what love, God, and ecstasy are about.

I’ve written about these things in my academic book on Hegel, and in an as yet unpublished trade book, The God Within Us.

In the picture, I’m the guy with the glasses. Below me, singing, are my wonderful wife, Kathy Kouzmanoff, and her step-great-grandson, Michael. On the right is the sky over Peninsula State Park, Wisconsin. I’m a lucky guy, to live in such a world. Lucky, too, to appreciate what I’ve been given. A grain of sand that’s grateful to the universe.
